History of WebRTC

WebRTC History

WebRTC was first announced by Google in 2011 as an open-source project to bring real-time communication to the web. Since then, it has evolved into a global standard, supported by all major browsers and adopted by countless applications worldwide.

The technology was standardized by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), ensuring interoperability and security. Over the years, WebRTC has enabled a new generation of web apps, from video conferencing to secure file sharing.
